Getting to appointments around the bay

Your Medicare card can lower the bus fare.

In short

All three Tampa Bay bus systems offer reduced fares to Medicare card holders. On HART in Hillsborough and PSTA in Pinellas, show your red, white and blue Medicare card. GoPasco gives reduced fares to riders 65 and older with a valid Medicare card. If you cannot ride a bus, ask about door-to-door service such as Hillsborough County’s Sunshine Line. Each agency decides who qualifies.

A useful next step

  1. Keep your red, white and blue Medicare card with you; HART, PSTA and GoPasco accept it for reduced fares.
  2. If you cannot use the bus, ask about door-to-door service: the Sunshine Line in Hillsborough (813-272-7272), PSTA Access in Pinellas (727-540-1888) or GoPasco paratransit (727-834-3322).
  3. Book early, and if you have a Medicare plan, ask whether it includes any transportation benefit.

A question to keep

Ask what type of visit is scheduled and whether other services could lead to charges.

Questions people in Tampa Bay ask

What is the Sunshine Line?
Hillsborough County’s door-to-door transportation for older adults, people with disabilities and residents with low income who have no other way to travel, including to medical appointments. The county lists no fees for the service. Call 813-272-7272 to find out if you are eligible.
Is there door-to-door service in Pinellas and Pasco?
Yes. PSTA Access is the ADA paratransit service in Pinellas; call 727-540-1888 to ask for an application. GoPasco runs door-to-door paratransit in Pasco; call 727-834-3322. Each agency decides who is eligible.
Which ID do I need for a reduced bus fare?
HART and PSTA accept your red, white and blue Medicare card. GoPasco accepts a valid Medicare card or its own reduced-fare photo ID. HART also issues a senior permit to riders 65 and older with a State of Florida ID, for a one-time $3 fee.
